Writing

Sun Aug 30, 2009, 5:02 PM
Been gone for a bit. Not really gone, just floating around in the background. Probably stay that way for a while too. Everything in my life has been turned upside down in the last years time. Wedding, moved, graduated, new job, adopted a six year old, and on Thursday my new son was born. I've lost my drawing space to baby stuff and other things. It's all part of life. At first it was hard to deal with. Re-arranging your priorities at 33 is tough. So less art and more writing. I'm three issues into a six issue story arc. I'm enjoying being able to dedicate myself to a single project for once. Once I get to the six issue mark, I'll re-asses my situation. Maybe look for an artist, or just start grinding through the penciling myself. I want to ink and watercolor the story myself, but the whole penciling aspect of it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It's not my strong suite and I know it. I'm slow and my layout sucks. Oh well, if I do it, I learn and get better. On the 3-D front I'm slowly starting to get some stuff together. I'm looking at getting an anvil here soon, and I might have a place to swing the hammer if I can get it cleaned up a bit. Time and money... Anyways, this place continues to be a source of inspiration. Just watching others post stuff keeps my fire lit.

No problem, the mask is a great piece. I love modifying stuff. I re-did one of those cheap Halloween axes for my son this year. I was tempted to go further than I did, but I realized a six year old doesn't need the ability to kill the other tricker treaters. He gets enough candy as it is. Keep up the good work.

yeah and then there is always the possibility
That it will look real enough that it might even fool the cops..... and that's a bad day for every one right there.

Yeah, hopefully we'll move to the country soon, so the whole police thing wont be an issue. My goal, is to someday have a "War Chest" for my two boys full of sturdy home made toy weapons for them to play with. Wooden guns, fake swords, toy spears, the whole nine yards. That would have been a dream come true when I was a little one. :)

I'm with you, though two things come to mind when you say the word "spears"
i know a pair of brothers and every childhood story they have EVER told me ends in bloodshed despite the lack of sharp sticks to play with.
And The story my grandma told me once about her brother chasing her around with a sharp stick and accidentally impaling her leg, lol.

a wooden toy spear is just a primitive spear, you can still take out an elk with it ;)
But if you get them some chain mail and plate Armour to boot, i think they should be fine.
that mental image makes me chuckle.

I always wanted one of those rubber band Gatling guns, you know the kind im talking about?
I had sisters, all hand to hand combat, no weapons were really required, unless you count the scary masks and horrible tricks as psychological weapons.
